Brought to you by
👋 Hey there, {{first_name | friend}}, it’s Kim.
Some shows are good, others are great. This weekend’s show falls into the great category.
We have two calls I’m still thinking about. A mom who says ChatGPT caught what her doctors missed. And a dad who walked away from a head-on crash on the freeway with his son in the car.
Then it gets fun. A chunk of rocket lands in a Minnesota cornfield. A robot that does kung fu goes on sale. And two dads who send each other potatoes by drone. (Yes, potatoes. Stay with me.)
🎧 Pop in your earbuds. Rake the leaves. Hand out the Halloween candy. Sit in the driveway a few extra minutes. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or iHeart.
📺 Looking for the video? This week’s YouTube show is recorded, but because of a family emergency, it won’t be edited until next week. Look for it then. The podcast is ready right now.

🎧 THIS WEEK’S SHOW
Click here or tap to listen: Her doctors missed it. ChatGPT didn’t.
Lauren Bannon knew something was wrong with her body. Her doctors had an answer. It wasn’t the right one.
So she typed her symptoms into ChatGPT. It pointed her toward a test nobody had ordered. That test found cancer.
Lauren joins me to tell the whole story. What she typed. What the chatbot said. And how she got her doctors to listen.
Here’s why you need to hear it: AI isn’t your doctor. But used the right way, it can help you ask better questions. (Used the wrong way, it leaks your medical records. I cover that in the same episode.)
🔔 One click and you never miss a show: Subscribe on YouTube. It’s free.
🧮 NUMBER OF THE WEEK: 13 MILLION
That’s how many conversations a cuddly AI toy sold on Amazon left wide open on servers in China. Some included profiles of American kids.
Kids tell toys everything. Their name. Their school. When Mom leaves for work. That’s a scammer’s shopping list.
Is there an AI toy on your kid’s wish list? Hear my one-line Christmas rule on the podcast before you hit Buy.

⏱️ I BUILT A WEBSITE IN 32 MINUTES
I set a timer. My husband needed a website, and I wanted to see how fast I could build one with Hostinger. 32 minutes. That included buying the domain name, start to finish.
Here’s the secret: AI did the heavy lifting for me. I told Hostinger’s AI Website Builder what the site was for, and it built the layout, wrote the first draft of the text and picked the images. I tweaked a few things and hit publish.*
No coding. No web designer. No tech headaches. I not only recommend it, I also moved Komando.com to Hostinger and I’m saving $3,395 a month in hosting fees.
Thinking about a site for your side hustle, your family or your business? This is the easiest way I’ve found.
Black Friday deal: I got you early access, up to 83% off the AI builder, starting at just $2.24 a month. You also get a domain and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Great, right?
✅ Go to Hostinger.com/Kim. My code KIM10 is applied automatically. Your website is 32 minutes or less away. Start now. →

🤝 MEET A GUEST: BILL GROSS

Image: idealab
At 15, Bill took about $400 of bar mitzvah money and bought a tiny ad in the back of Popular Science. He sold solar energy kits through the mail. About 10,000 of them. That paid for Caltech.
Then he started Idealab, which helped launch about 175 wildly successful companies. One of them invented pay-per-click search ads and sold to Yahoo for $1.6 billion. Every sponsored result you see on Google? That’s Bill’s idea at work.
Now he’s giving away more than 1.2 million AI-generated business ideas. Free. His goal: a million new businesses. Got a side hustle itch? This is your interview.
🎧 Hear Bill’s interview. You don’t want to miss this opportunity! To learn more and see what kind of AI business you can start, go to Idealab.ai.
📞 MORE CALLERS YOU’LL LOVE
🚗 Jeff saw the wrong-way driver. His Tesla was in self-driving mode on the freeway when a car started acting strange. Then it came straight at him. Jeff slammed the brakes. After the collision, he couldn’t get out, but he got his son out with help from a semi driver. Then he helped the 79-year-old woman who hit him. Elon Musk even commented on the video. What the Tesla did in those last seconds is something every driver should hear.
🥔 The potato drone dads. Two dads figured out they could send each other potatoes by drone. Why potatoes? Why not? Nathan tells me how drone delivery works and whether it’s coming to your street.
🍎 Michele wants to teach with AI. She teaches a keyboarding and coding class in Arkansas, and data laws keep her from putting AI in her students’ hands. So how do you teach AI without breaking the rules? I gave her a plan she can use Monday.
🎲 REAL OR FAKE
Three brand-new AI gadgets. I made up two of them. One came out this week. Andrew had to find the real one on the show. Now it’s your turn.
1. SnackGuard. A camera inside your fridge recognizes who’s opening the door. After 10 p.m., it locks the ice cream drawer and texts your spouse: “Dave is in the freezer again.” It’s $149, plus $4.99 a month for “accountability mode.”
2. Genie 4. Type one sentence, like “hot air balloon ride over Antarctica,” and AI builds a whole world you can fly through in real time. You hear the wind. The people in it talk back. Type “make it snow,” and it snows.
3. Squat-to-Watch. A smart TV that uses its built-in camera to pause your show every hour. It won’t hit play again until you do 10 squats. There’s a kids’ version for screen time.
Lock in your answer. Then listen to find out if you (and Andrew) got it right. I’m not giving it away here. 🎧 Hear the answer on the podcast.
Keep scrolling. My best jokes are still to come. 👇
✂️ CUTTING-ROOM FLOOR
Tips that didn’t make the show. You get them because you read this far.
🤖 First, Barb, this one’s for you: Barb called the show asking for the best robot vacuum, and we ran out of time before I could get to her. Here’s my pick, Barb. I own the Roborock Q7 M5+. It vacuums and mops, maps your house with a laser and has two anti‑tangle brushes that laugh at my goldens’ fur. The base empties it for up to seven weeks. Check it out here. Right now, it’s 31% off, $249.98. Sweep dreams.
💳 Jason, wallet’s up? Jason wants to stop thieves with RFID readers from swiping his card info. Real talk: At $9.99, the peace of mind is cheap. The RUNBOX slim wallet blocks the signal tap‑to‑pay cards use, holds 11 cards, stays about 0.8 inches thick and has a lifetime guarantee. It’s 33% off right now. Grab it here. Skimmers, swipe left.
Now, these also did not make the show because we ran out of time.
Is your Windows PC still getting security updates? As of Oct. 13, Microsoft stopped sending security patches to Windows 11 version 24H2 on Home and Pro computers. Your PC still works. The holes hackers find from now on won’t get fixed. Open Settings > System > About and look for the version. See 24H2? Go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. It’s free, and your files stay put. Done.
Make a chatbot your fraud investigator. Crooks use AI to build fake online stores, then buy Facebook ads to find you. Before you buy from an ad, screenshot it, copy the store’s web address and paste this into ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude: “Here’s a screenshot of a Facebook ad and the store’s website. Act like a fraud investigator. List every red flag. Tell me how to check whether this brand exists outside this ad. Then rate the risk from 1 to 10.” Still want it? Pay with a credit card, not a debit card. Neat.
Is that price just for you? The FTC ordered Walmart, Target, Delta, United, JetBlue, Uber, Lyft, DoorDash and Instacart to explain whether your personal data sets your prices. Don’t wait for the answer. Before a big purchase or a flight, check the price logged out, in a private window or on a second device. Easy.
😥 WORST JOKES OF THE WEEK
Why do scarecrows make great rocket scientists? Because they’re outstanding in their field.
What do genies drink? Wishkey.
Did you hear about the translator who ran a marathon? He was Russian to Finnish.
(Andrew groaned at all three. That’s the only review I trust.)
🙏 THANK YOU, HOSTINGER
Thanks to Hostinger for making this week’s show possible. Building your first website?
Four free tips before you hit publish:
- Say your domain out loud. Short, easy to spell and a .com if you can get it. If you have to spell it twice over the phone, pick another.
- Get a matching email. you@yourbusiness.com looks a lot more trustworthy than a free Gmail address on a business card.
- Check it on your phone first. Most visitors will. Preview the mobile version before you go live.*
- Put the basics up top. What you do, where you are and how to reach someone. A tap-to-call button beats a paragraph every time.
Then let AI do the heavy lifting. Up to 83% off Hostinger’s AI Website Builder, from $2.24 a month, with a domain and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Code KIM10 is applied automatically.
✅ Start your site at Hostinger.com/Kim. After you get your site up, drop me the link to it. I might feature it right here!
🎧 HOW TO GET THE PODCAST
Why listen? It’s free. It’s the whole show, on your schedule. Miss Saturday? No problem. Your station plays me at 6 a.m.? Also no problem. The podcast waits for you.
Pick your app. One tap and you’re in:
🍎 Apple Podcasts: Follow The Kim Komando Show here.
🟢 Spotify: Follow The Kim Komando Show here.
❤️ iHeart: Follow The Kim Komando Show here.
🔊 Smart speaker: Say, “Alexa, play The Kim Komando Show podcast on iHeart Radio.” (Yes, Alexa. Just maybe not the new one with the camera.)
🎯 3 PODCAST TRICKS MOST PEOPLE NEVER USE
Share the exact moment. Want Mom to hear Lauren’s story without the first 40 minutes? In Apple Podcasts, tap ... > Share Episode and turn on the option to start at the current time. On Spotify, tap Share and pick Share from [time]. She lands right on the good part.
Line it up. Tap ... > Play Next (Apple) or Add to queue (Spotify), and your next episode starts on its own. No fumbling between errands.
Skip the long pauses. Some apps can trim dead air automatically. Look for Trim Silence or Smart Speed in your podcast app’s playback settings. Same show, less waiting. (I don’t pause much. Andrew does.)
💛 WANT TO GIVE US SOME LOVE?
Three things, two minutes, huge difference:
Follow. New episodes land on your phone automatically.
Leave a 5-star review. On Apple Podcasts, scroll down the show page and tap the stars. On Spotify, tap the star rating on the show page. Reviews are how the apps decide who to recommend.
Share Lauren’s story. Tap Share in your podcast app and text it to someone who keeps getting “it’s nothing” from the doctor.
Got a question or a story like Lauren’s? Hit reply. I read these.
Forward this to the friend who asked a chatbot about their lab results. (Friend, if that’s you: Welcome! Get this email free every week at GetKim.com.)

P.S. Two dads figured out they could send each other potatoes by drone. Not a joke. A real drone, a real potato, a real backyard landing. Nathan tells me how drone delivery works and whether your next pizza drops out of the sky. Hear the potato drone story on the podcast. (What do you call a potato that rides a drone? A spud-nik.)
