đşđ¸ Happy Veterans Day, {{first_name | friend}}. Today, I salute those whoâve served, those still serving and the families who stand behind them because when one person deploys, the whole family serves, too. Below, I have three special links you donât want to miss for our vets in the Web Watercooler section.Â
Letâs not forget the powerful tech innovations their courage helped bring to life. Imagine what the U.S. Cyber Command is up against every moment of the day. Theyâre in the digital war zone against phishing schemes, ransomware and mystery files named âinvoice.pdfâ from addresses that scream trouble.Â
â ď¸ Can you guess how many cyber threats U.S. Cyber Command detects or blocks every single minute every single day? Is it: A) 75, B) 600, C) 1,500 or D) 7,000? Find the answer at the end!
Donât gatekeep the good stuff. Forward this to that one coworker who thinks âcybersecurityâ means using Chrome in Incognito mode. You know the one. â Kim

TODAYâS DEEP DIVE
Decoding AI gigland

Image: Bing Image Creator
Iâve been really trying to help you get a handle on how you can use AI in your career.Â
But what if you only want a work-at-home gig? I got your back, too. Itâs not all sunshine and dollar signs. Hereâs whatâs working and what you need to watch out for.
đŠâđź Amanda: Kitchen Table Hustler
Sheâs a mom in Texas who works full-time in real estate. After her daughter goes to bed, she fires up her laptop and starts training AI, reviewing chatbot responses, transcribing audio and flagging content that doesnât meet the mark.Â
In three weeks, she brought in nearly $8,000. The work pays $40 an hour sometimes, and she does it all from home. But itâs no walk in the park.Â
The onboarding process is intense, and every task you complete is graded. One too many bad scores? Youâre out. Still, if you can stay sharp and consistent, itâs real money.
đ¨âđ Isaiah: Power User
Heâs a college student who went deep into AI annotation. He wrote challenging prompts, reviewed model responses and tried to âbreakâ chatbots with tricky questions. He earned over $50,000 in six months, peaking at around $50 an hour.Â
He admits it took months to land his first assignment. And when things were going great, his rate dropped overnight. Thatâs the game with AI work right now: big potential, but the rug can move. Fast.
đ§âđť Mike: The Side Hustler
He fits in AI gigs around his 9-to-5. He started with simple data labeling, then moved into transcription and voice tasks that pay him $25 to $35 an hour. The flexibility is a win, and he doesnât need to leave his house. But he has to stay on top of job boards, and the best-paying projects go fast.
đ 5 Places to Find AI Jobs
These platforms are where real people like Amanda, Isaiah and Mike are getting hired.
Start with one platform, pass the qualification test and build a reputation. Once you prove yourself, better-paying jobs open up.
If youâre curious which path fits you and how to get started without wasting time, schedule time for us to talk on my show. Iâll help you sort out the best starting point, and maybe even get your first gig lined up this week.
đ Send this to someone who needs a side hustle boost. Just tap one of the share icons below. You never know whoâs looking for a smarter way to work from home, this might be their AI launchpad.
THE KIM KOMANDO SHOW
A family used AI to fight a $195,000 hospital bill (and won)
Claude AI flagged bad billing codes and duplicate charges, dropping the tally to $33K. Plus, Shaqâs car got hacked, Taco Bell broke the drive-thru record and why the rich are skipping hotels. Then I talk to caller Joseph, whoâs looking for his estranged son with GPS.

WEB WATERCOOLER
First, special links for our vets today:
đ Tell your story: The Library of Congress Veterans History Project gives a permanent digital home to our veteransâ voices. It was created so future generations can hear directly from those who served to understand the true price of our freedom. It relies on volunteers, family, friends, you, to record an interview, capture their voice, their letters and their memories for all time. Because every vetâs story is a national treasure.Â
đď¸ My dadâs medals: These treasured possessions hang in my office. If a loved oneâs medals have been damaged, lost or stolen, the U.S. military offers free replacements. Visit the National Personnel Records Center and click on your veteranâs branch to learn more.
đŞ Free AI for vets: If youâre getting out of the military, or just did, OpenAIâs hooking you up with a free year of ChatGPT Plus. OpenAI wants to help you with rĂŠsumĂŠs, job hunting and the whole âwhat now?â situation. The pilot includes special training tools (paywall link), plus suicide prevention resources to catch signs youâre struggling and point you to real help.
Now, the tech news you need to know:
â ď¸ Fake âfoundâ texts: You lose your iPhone, panic sets in, then, boom, you get a text saying itâs been found. Feels like hope, right? Donât fall for it. Swiss cyber folks say scammers are using that Find My feature to trick you into typing your Apple ID into a fake site. Thatâs how they unlock your phone for resale.
No juice, no plane: Hereâs one TSA rule you probably forgot: They can ask you to power on your phone, laptop or even your Switch. If it doesnât turn on? You could miss your flight. Itâs how they check itâs not a bomb. So yeah, maybe donât show up with 2% battery and good intentions.
Unmonitored inbox: Inbox? What inbox? Some Gen Z workers skip email entirely, check once a day (maybe) and prefer Slack for anything urgent. One study found 36% of Gen Zers had over 1,000 unread emails. Their logic? If itâs important, youâll text. Apparently, urgency is the senderâs job now.
đż The âsecretâ supplement I use to help manage cravings: Always reaching for snacks or feeling that midday slump? Same. My team and I created a clean GLP-1 Support formula that actually works. No caffeine, no stimulants. Just steady energy, clear focus and fewer cravings. I take ImproveLife GLP-1 Support daily, and Iâm proud of that. Try it for up to 33% off with free shipping before it sells out.**

DAILY TECH UPDATE
This robot does the laundry (really)
The ultimate sci-fi fantasy? A bot that can do the dishes or fold your pants. Hear why, by 2026, that dream is finally within reach.
DEVICE ADVICE
âĄď¸ 3-second tech genius: Have a legal document thatâs confusing? Paste it into a chatbot and ask for a plain-English summary. Then ask what certain paragraphs mean. FYI: If itâs serious, call a lawyer, not a bot.
đľđťââď¸ Free email accounts watch everything you do. I switched to StartMail because it keeps my inbox secure, blocks spam and actually protects my personal info. Try it free for 7 days and get 60% off your first year!*
Keep your iPad awake: If your screen keeps turning off while youâre thinking, you can change that. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock and pick a longer time, like 5 minutes. Choose Never if you want it to stay on all the time. But remember thatâll drain the battery faster.
See what you swiped away: Weâve all cleared a notification too fast, only to regret it two seconds later. On Android, you can check the alerts, reminders and updates you accidentally dismissed. Go to Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings and toggle on Notification History. You might even see a DM that was deleted.
đ§âđ Cards in minutes: Make your holiday greetings unforgettable with a personalized photo Christmas card. Add your family name, a heartfelt message and your favorite photos. Bundles start at $21.45 ($1.43 each) for 15 cards or up to 250 cards for $180 ($0.72 each).
WHAT THE TECH?

Image: Toyota
đ Fast & the Curious: Kindergarten Drift
Toyota unveiled the Kids Mobi, a self-driving pod that lets your child commute solo like a tiny Wall Street executive.
After your 6-year-old finishes breakfast, they can hop in their own car and head off to school as if they were a 1950s breadwinner. The cradle-to-WALL-E pipeline leads to LED eyes, AI âearsâ and a built-in digital buddy that talks and plays games.Â
Toyota says itâll help kids feel âindependent,â because nothing says independence like being chauffeured by a robot while you cry in a juice box.
LOGGING OUT âŚ
The answer: D) 7,000. Thatâs not a typo. U.S. Cyber Command, with help from some wizard-level AI, detects and blocks more than 7,000 cyber threats every minute. Thatâs over 10 million cyber events a day, from annoying phishing scams to full-on state-sponsored hacking attempts. Basically, while youâre deciding whether to reheat pizza or cook, someone in a bunker (probably an office) is saving the internet.
đŤđˇ One for the road: An elderly American gentleman arrived in Paris by plane. At the French customs desk, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on bag. âYou have been to France before, monsieur?â the customs officer asked, sarcastically. The man admitted he had been to France previously. âThen you should know enough to have your passport ready.â The American said, âThe last time I was here, I didnât have to show it.â âImpossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!â The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained. âWell, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldnât find any Frenchmen to show it to.â
Tomorrow, Iâm talking license plate readers, neighborhood surveillance and the rise of suburban snoop tech. This is the #1 tech newsletter in the United States.Â
đŤ Youâre doing much better than you think. I believe in you. â Kim
